Wishing for Simply Holidays

Remember the Wishbone?

Praying this week that we will all remember the best of holidays of the past and keep traditions which make holidays indeed a time of joy. Working together will make the load lighter rather than pulling against one another as in the breaking of the wishbone. To truly enjoy something we must be involved. Share the joy and include everyone in the tasks to be done. Pray this week for the ability to see the things which will make the holidays simply joyful for all.

Scriptures for the week
Psalm 136:1-3 (NIV)
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.

Fitness 1 Focus

If you have ever been in a big race or big event, you know how important it is to be prepared. This past year, I had the privilege of watching (and helping) my husband as he prepared to take on his first ever Ironman. For those of you who don't know what that is—it's a 2.5 mile swim, 116 mile bike ride, followed by a marathon. It takes both mental and physical preparation to be able to ignore the distractions of every day life and focus on a task that is a year away.

Today in church, we discussed how to be prepared for Christmas. The pastor spoke on the importance of less distractions (how many presents? how many parties??) and focusing instead on the true meaning of Christmas. I challenge you all as we enter into the holiday season to stay focused on Christ instead of parties, presents and the hoopla Christmas tends to bring.

Have a great week!! Jenn

World Thank Offering

This month we count the shoes we own and report this figure to the Circle Coordinator. The count of shoes in our closets illustrates we go in many directions, wear various costumes, personally serve many needs in church, family, and community. Our giving to World Thank Offering shows we support mission projects where our shoes cannot take us but we go in faith, hope and love through United Methodist Women.
